Dr. Thakkar

Weight Loss and Healthier Lifestyle.
I was always a very active fit person most of my life. I started a family very young in my life and my lifestyle and fitness priorities went to the wayside as I did my best providing for my wife and 5 children. Being the breadwinner and having to prioritize work, often working late hours and night shifts really started the unhealthy lifestyle snowball effect. Working a lot and doing my best I could as a Father to support my children resulted in me putting my own health in jeopardy.
Throughout the years my weight became more and more of a problem. I decided to better myself and grow in my career by deciding to go back to college when my kids were in high school. This, of course, did not help my health choices. On top of working full time and going to school full time, I often found myself barely getting sleep and became a regular at any quick fast food restaurant that was the nearest. Still, at this point, my priorities were still to get my kids through high school and college and finish up my degree so that I could better support my family.
By the time I was able to do all of this, it appeared my health was almost to a point of no return. I was able to finish my degree and get all of my children through college, but my health was not looking good. I was having many health complications and was very overweight. Getting checked at my annual physical to find out that I was borderline diabetic with high cholesterol didn’t help my motivation to change. It almost was discouraging, but I wanted to make a change. At this point in my life, I was starting to get blessed with grandbabies which was such a joy!
Realizing that my father passed away in his fifties from a massive heart attack made me want to do better. I wanted to make sure I was able to see my grandchildren grow up and for them to have their grandpa since I knew that my children did not, I wanted to make changes and tried but struggled a lot. I was confused by all the health information out there and often would get discouraged after not seeing any results. After years of struggling on my own, I was blessed to finally meet Dr. Thakkar and his team.
I was so pleased with his compassion and overall guidance with my health. I truly felt like he cared and I knew that I could trust him. He seemed confident that he could help me and I genuinely believed him. Dr. Thakkar was so thorough with his exam and was able to identify that I had a low functioning thyroid. He was also able to guide me through a weight loss program that got results!! Believe it or not but I was able to lose a total of 70lbs working with him and I am forever grateful. I was able to normalize my blood sugar as well as my cholesterol.
But most importantly I was empowered to keep going. They had taught me so much throughout the program and they really stressed the importance of changing your habits and mindset. Looking back at when I was trying to change on my own, I never really thought it was possible. Now I have a newfound confidence and a totally new outlook on life and wellbeing. I am most excited that I have been able to make this change for my family, I feel so much healthier and driven to live my best life even at my age now.
I cannot thank Dr. Thakkar and his team enough for everything that he has done for me. I encourage anyone reading this who is ready to make a change to do it! You all have the potential to better your life and Dr. Thakkar can help!
