The Full Story

Wegovy® is a prescription medication used for chronic weight management in adults with obesity or overweight conditions who have at least one weight-related condition such as high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes, or high cholesterol.

Wegovy® functions by mimicking a hormone in the intestines called GLP-1, reducing hunger and thereby helping individuals to eat less and lose weight. The medication is administered via a subcutaneous injection.

Patients on Wegovy® can expect significant weight loss when combined with a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity. However, side effects may include nausea, diarrhea, vomiting, constipation, and potential risk of thyroid C-cell tumors.
